Cookie Policy
The Dearest Heart app uses no cookies. This page is about dearestheart.app, the website you are reading.
It is short because there is little to describe. Nothing is stored on your device until you have made a choice, and refusing costs you nothing — no feature of this site depends on it.
1. What a cookie is here
“Cookie” in this policy covers cookies and the equivalent technologies — local storage, session storage — because the law treats them the same way and so should we. Under the ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR, anything not strictly necessary needs your consent before it is placed.
2. What this site stores
| Name | Kind | What for | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
dearestheart.consent | Strictly necessary (local storage, not a cookie) | Remembers the choice you made here, so you are not asked on every page | 1 year, then we ask again |
| Anonymous statistics | Optional — off until you allow it | Counts page views and rough country, to know which writing is worth doing more of. No profile, no advertising identifier | Not set unless allowed |
Nothing is set by an advertiser. There is no Facebook pixel, no Google Ads tag, no session replay, and nothing is sold or shared for cross-context behavioural advertising.
3. The part you will never see
The admin area at /admin keeps a Firebase authentication session in local storage while somebody who writes for this site is signed in. It is strictly necessary for that page and is set for nobody else.
4. Changing your mind
Use the button above, at any time. Withdrawing is exactly as easy as giving — that is the standard the regulators actually set, and the reason the banner has no styled “accept” next to a greyed-out “reject”.
You can also clear this site’s storage in your browser, which erases the record of your choice; the banner will then ask again.
5. More
What we do with data generally is in the Privacy Policy. Questions: privacy@dearestheart.app.
